Most garden centre bird boxes are made of thin, flimsy 12mm wood. The Bird Fortress is handcrafted from 45mm thick New Sustainable Scots Pine, offering roughly 3x the insulation and protection of standard boxes.

Maximum Insulation: Heavy-duty 45mm walls provide a superior thermal barrier, keeping chicks warm during unpredictable cold springs and cool in the peak of summer.

"Fledge-Safe" Climbing Ladder: The interior features precision-cut horizontal grooves (see photo)
This allows chicks to safely scramble to the exit only when they are strong enough to fledge, eliminating the risk of chicks becoming trapped in deep-walled boxes.

Predator-Proof Engineering: The flush-base design and 6-inch deep floor—combined with the sheer thickness of the timber—deny magpies, squirrels, and cats a foothold or the ability to reach the nest.

New & Sustainable: Built from high-quality, sustainably sourced new timber. This ensures a clean, professional finish and long-term structural integrity.

Natural Aesthetic: Left completely unstained and chemical-free for the health of the birds. This allows the wood to age beautifully or provides the owner the choice of aesthetic (please use only water-based stains).

Built for Maintenance: The floor is secured by heavy-duty 80mm Posidriv screws for easy annual cleaning.

Hidden Fixings: For a clean, professional finish, the roof is securely attached from the inside via 4 pocket-holed screws—no visible screw heads on the exterior "lid 

Mounting & Hardware: To ensure a secure fit for this solid timber piece, we recommend using heavy-duty mounting brackets or galvanized coach screws; please note that mounting hardware is not included, allowing you to select the best fixings for your specific surface, whether it be a tree trunk, timber post, or masonry.

Mounting Height: For optimal safety from predators and to attract nesting pairs, we recommend mounting the unit at least 6ft (1.8m) from the ground.
